Module title and summary | Children's rights in practice Children’s lived environments in global and local contexts, taking into account social, cultural, historical and economic conditions, are analysed and compared. Global and local perspectives on childhood and children’s rights in various fields of action (particularly education, health and social services) are to be systematically linked and critically reflected upon. Current theoretical discourses relevant to childhood studies, such as postcolonial and decolonial theoretical approaches and the Deepening of intersectional approaches are learned as instruments for to the analysis of childhoods Theory-guided interpretations of empirical studies on children’s living environments and fields of practice relating to children’s rights are interpreted in a theory-guided manner and made applicable to one’s own research questions. Case studies on children’s rights can be developed and reflected upon in the context of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and international procedures (UN reporting and dialogue processes), and applied as examples within UN dialogue frameworks. The focus is on identifying and distinguishing areas of conflict and tension between different stakeholder and legal positions (e.g. the child, parents, institutions, as well as ethical and institutional logics). A systematic analysis of children’s rights within the tension between participation, support and protection, and in the context of healthcare, helps to derive practice-oriented perspectives for action. | ||||
